June 18, 2016 – Fiddlefern Country Dancers Community Benefit Dance
Dance music will be performed by The Fiddlefern Dance Players, a group of Grey-Bruce musicians who have been playing together weekly since January of 2015 to broaden interest in playing for contra dances. Three fabulous new local groups will perform at St. George’s Anglican Church Hall. Members of the Fiddlefern Callers’ Collective will lead the dances. This mix of experienced and new callers has likewise worked over the past year to develop their calling skills.
Led by dedicated volunteers, the Fiddlefern Dance Players and Callers’ Collective began during the Country Dance and Song Society’s Centennial Tour year. They continue regularly, designed to encourage and develop musicians, callers and dancers while promoting a wider interest and awareness of contra dancing in the Owen Sound area.
This special dance is an exciting opportunity for the Fiddlefern dance community to share the results of these initiatives with the wider community while raising funds for a very worthy cause.
